Biography
24 Grana appeared on the Italian underground scene in the mid 90s, in a period of a great social, political and cultural ferment. The band is named after a coin used at the times of Kind Ferdinand of Aragona. The band was founded in 1996 when Francesco, Nando and Renato were joined by Giuseppe, who brought in his psychedelic-blues inspiration and mixed it with the rock-new wave influence of the others. The music of 24 Grana is inspired by many styles from dub to rock, from pop to new wave, from electronic music to blues and psychedelic music with poetry-song as a connecting-link. It is difficult to define the style of this band into one style, as since the very beginning this band stands apart. 24 Grana is constantly changing as quickly as it rejects styles. Live concerts is the core of the artistic life of the 24 Grana: the band has performed hundreds of times all around Italy, Europe (Spain, France, Switzerland, Slovenia), the US and Japan.
